Shark RV1001AE IQ
This budget self-emptying robot vacuum cleaner does an excellent job on low-pile carpet and hard floors. The combo brush can reach into edges and corners, and it automatically increases suction when it spots carpet. It also does a good job of cleaning embedded dirt off carpet in the middle. The IQ's compact dock footprint and self-emptying feature are nice touches. However, if you want to change the floor levels on the map, or set no-go zones, you'll have to manually reset it to do this, which is a bit of a hassle.
The IQ's app comes with advanced mapping and automation capabilities but it's missing no-go zones that are available on iRobot models. Its smart-pathing system allows for greater maneuverability, and the high-pile mode of its carpet cleaning mode is efficient but it could get caught in rug tassels.
In our tests, the IQ was capable of handling pet hair effectively, clearing an impressive amount of debris from floors that were not bare and moderate amounts from medium-pile carpet. It was less effective on shag carpets which was a struggle to reach dirt and dust embedded in the fibers. It was capable of maneuvering around chair legs, tight spaces, and the base of a wooden IKEA step stool. It was a little slower on floors with no flooring, but it regained speed and performed better than the other robots we tried.
The IQ is a better option over the iRobot Roomba 694 for most applications. It has a bigger dustbin and a longer battery life, and is better at navigating around obstacles. It has mopping tools that can clean up sticky debris. On the other side, the iRobot feels better-built, has fewer parts that require maintenance or replacement and has lower recurring costs and creates virtual no-go zones through its companion app. It can even restart a cleaning session from where it left off in case it is unable to recharge its battery prior to finishing the job. The iRobot can also be controlled via voice commands, click here which is an enormous benefit for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S from Eufy isn't the most feature-rich robot vacuum available however it offers great cleaning power for the price of. This vacuum was designed for budget-conscious consumers who do not require a complicated mapping system, or even an app, to control it. This robot can last for over an hour. It includes a remote control, cleaning tool and AC power adapter.
The 11S is slim and sleek with a tempered glass upper deck that covers plastic finished to look like brushed aluminum. It's a nice departure from the industrial and utilitarian designs of Roomba, Samsung and Neato.
In our tests, the eufy 11S was extremely effective at removing larger debris and fine dust on hard floors. However, it was unable to provide medium and high pile carpets a thorough clean. The device is also prone to hit furniture and people that are in its path however, it is able to detect these obstacles using sensors. It stops and emits a loud sound when it encounters an obstruction. You can then manually guide the device around it and get it to work again.
Another great feature of the eufy11S is its BoostIQ mode, which allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust the strength of its suction to match floor type and the amount of mess. It's also easy to use the remote to direct the 11S where you want it to move.
If you don't have much furniture in the room you'd like to vacuum Single Room Mode is an excellent option. The eufy is capable of spending up to 30 minutes cleaning the space it is assigned.
You can also select Edge Cleaning, which reduces the amount of time spent in each location to 20 minutes to ensure optimal battery life. If you select this option the eufy can move in a spiral fashion to clean edges and corners for a thorough clean.
Miele Complete C1
The Miele Complete C1 is an excellent mid-range canister robot vacuum that is a top performer on carpet. Its performance is also excellent on floors with no floor. It can pick up rice and other small particles with ease. The suction power doesn't decrease when the dirt bin is full. Its air-sealed and allergy-friendly design traps allergens and keep your family healthy. It has an onboard HEPA filter and self-emptying dustbin, so you won't need to purchase additional filters or a separate vacuum bag.
It's not quite as powerful as the more expensive models, but it's excellent for deep cleaning and taking on staining. Two front cameras provide live feeds of images on your smartphone, and it has one of the top obstacle avoidance systems we've seen. It also has a big dustbin, a long running time and a speedy, bump-free clean-up.
Contrary to other robots the Complete C1 can switch between a standard powerhead and a turbo head to suit different flooring types. Its noise level is slightly higher than other models however its powerful 1,200-watt motor and sturdy build make it worth the extra expense.
If you're willing more it's worth it. Miele Complete C3 is an excellent all-round canister robot vacuum that performs better on carpet than the Classic C1. It is more efficient on all floors and is more solidly constructed, and includes an HEPA filter.
